"Well, we made it to the top of Mt Kilimanjaro and back down safely!!! If you're wondering about the look on my face in the first pic, this is the look of me chocking back tears during a pretty emotional moment. Emotional, because this is the culmination of 6 long days of climbing, because of the lifelong friendships that we forged along the route as we accomplished this together, and because after battling 101 and 100 degree fevers on the two days before summit (and probably some fever on day of), record snow levels up top, and the potential of us getting affected by cyclone winds off the coast of Africa, there was a moment when I was not sure I'd be able to get there. But mostly this moment was emotional for me because I was thinking about Livi and kids like her and the mountains much larger they have already climbed and still may have in front of them. I thought about Livi a bunch on the final push up to the summit, when just putting one foot in front of the other and moving forward is the last thing you want to do, but the only thing you really can do. It's been an honor to work with @littleheroesleague in raising funds for an amazing cause and I look forward to doing whatever else I can to help going forward (please go to the site and donate). Thanks to my friends and family, my climbing brothers, @otfoldtownchicago @otfchistreeter @otfchicagowestloop for helping me train and to my team for helping with fundraising and really being the best group out there in taking care of our members, @gvnperformance for helping me train and then some (more on this in a minute), to the amazing folks at @spicprivatejourneys who had our well-being in their hands and knocked it out of the park, to the college back home picking up the slack and to all the well-wishers. Thank you! #kilimanjaro #bucketlist #dreamcometrue
